Why I built this.
Papertools started with a simple irritation: bookkeeping software that assumes you either have an accounting degree or a finance department. Most small businesses have neither — they have evenings.
So I built the tool I wanted to hand people instead: plain words on top, an assistant that does the typing, and a true double-entry ledger underneath — so when your accountant asks for the records, you hand them accounting, not a shoebox.
Nothing that needs a manual. Nothing that punishes you for not knowing the jargon. Today a small team carries that first idea forward — product, design and engineering — shipping improvements almost every day. If something feels wrong or missing, tell us — we read what comes in.
