Manage tax rates and tax IDs

Set up the tax rates you charge and the tax IDs shown on your documents — all under Settings → Tax.

Customers, vendors & catalog

Papertools applies tax to your documents automatically — once you've set up your rates. Both rates and IDs live under Settings → Tax.

Tax rates

Under Tax rates, add each rate you charge — a name, its type (VAT, GST, sales tax, and so on), and the percentage.

Mark one as your default and it's applied to new line items automatically. You can still change the rate on any individual line, and catalog items can carry their own rate (see Build your product & service catalog).

Tax IDs

Under Tax IDs, add the identifiers that should appear on your invoices and estimates — your VAT, GST, EIN, or other registration numbers.

You can add more than one, handy if you operate across borders and need to show different IDs in different places.

Good to know

  • Tax rates are what you charge; tax IDs are your registration numbers — two separate things in the same place.
  • Your customers' and vendors' own tax IDs are set on their profiles, not here.

No tax to charge? Leave your rates empty and your documents simply won't show any.
