Set up recurring bills

Automate the bills that repeat — rent, subscriptions, retainers — and Papertools drafts each one on schedule for you to review.

Automation

For costs that repeat on a schedule — rent, software subscriptions, a retainer you pay — set up a recurring bill once and let Papertools raise each one for you. It's under Automation → Recurring Bills.

Create a schedule

  1. Open Automation → Recurring Bills and choose New.
  2. Pick the vendor and add the line items, just like a normal bill.
  3. Set the cadence:
    • Frequency — weekly, monthly, quarterly, and so on.
    • Start date — when the first one is raised.
    • Ends — never, on a set date, or after a number of bills.
  4. Save.

Each one is a draft to review

Unlike recurring invoices, recurring bills don't send themselves — each new bill lands as a draft for you to check before it counts. That's deliberate: it's money going out, so you get the final say. Review it, adjust if needed, then save and pay it as usual.

Recurring bills need the Bills module on (Settings → Features), plus the vendor they're from.
