Track a bill you need to pay

Record the bills you owe your vendors, see what's due, and mark them paid — so your cash flow stays clear.

Estimates, bills & expenses

A bill is money you owe a vendor — the mirror image of an invoice. Recording your bills keeps track of what you owe and when it's due.

Turn on Bills under Settings → Features to get started.

Record a bill

  1. Open Bills and choose New bill.
  2. Pick the vendor and add the line items — what you're being charged for.
  3. Set the issue and due dates.
  4. Save.

The bill now appears in your list of what's owed, with its due date front and center.

Mark it paid

When you pay a bill, open it and choose Pay bill. Enter the amount, date, and method, and Papertools records the payment and marks the bill paid — partial payments work here too.

Good to know

  • Your outstanding bills feed your cash flow and accounts payable, so you always know what's going out.
  • Paying on a regular cycle, like rent? Set up a recurring bill under Automation — see Set up recurring bills.

Bills need the vendor they're from — add vendors under Vendors (see Add customers and vendors).
